Priest-in-Charge of Smallthorne (0.7) and Catholic Parish Mission Partner (0.3)

2nd Feb 2015

The parish of Smallthorne seek a priest who:

  • Shares our Catholic ethos and who would be a member of the Society of St Wilfred and St Hilda.
  • Is an effective leader, willing to offer and to accept advice, make decisions and delegate responsibilities.
  • Will build on our strong local connections and share our ministry to the extended village community.
  • Will bring a fresh perspective to our church life, offer new initiatives and enthusiasm to a congregation eager to grow.

In return:

  • We will fully support a new priest in his endeavours to serve both church and parish and warmly welcome him into our caring church family.

The Bishop writes

As they look to the future, following the fruitful ministry of Fr Grigson, the faithful at St Saviour’s Smallthorne are very alive to the needs of their growing village community;  they’re thinking and praying seriously about how to respond flexibly to the challenges and opportunities for proclaiming and living the Gospel in north-east Stoke.  They’re equally confident that the catholic traditions of the parish give them all the resources they need to grow and flourish.  And they’re looking and praying for the priest who will feed and teach and lead them in all that lies ahead.  If you feel called to a lively, family and community-centred catholic parish, please consider if you are being called to join them.

As part of this post, the Deanery of Stoke North look for a mission minded priest in the Catholic tradition to work alongside the Catholic parishes of the Deanery to resource, develop and build upon new and existing mission opportunities and explore new patterns of shared working.

This is an interim post of three years, likely to be extended to five.

Closing date for applications: 8th February 2015

Interview date: 5th March 2015
