House for Duty Associate Priest of Holy Trinity Ilkeston

21st Sep 2015

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Priest to maintain the strength of our ministry team and a priestly presence within the parish. This follows a resignation on health grounds.

This is a House for Duty post: 2 days plus Sunday. The post will be for a fixed term with the duration determined by the successful candidate’s personal circumstances.

We need someone who is committed to the Church of England and its catholic beliefs and practice. We have a strong liturgical tradition with Mass being celebrated on Sundays and on two days during the week as well as on all the principal feast days. We are active in the Anglo-Catholic sphere with well-established links to Walsingham and the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament.

As well as supporting our strong liturgical tradition, we would also welcome someone who would be active in mission, outreach and growth and who will be able to work collaboratively with the PCC.

We are linked to the parish of St Laurence, Long Eaton, where our Parish Priest is the Vicar, and it would be expected that there will be some cover for holidays and other absences between the parishes on a reciprocal basis.

Resolutions A and B are in place and we are under the Episcopal care of the Bishop of Ebbsfleet. The new Resolution under the House of Bishops’ Declaration is currently under discussion with the expectation that it will be voted on by both PCCs in the autumn.

The Bishop of Ebbsfleet writes:

This post is an opportunity to join a team, to work with some important new initiatives, and to share your own pastoral experience in a warm and welcoming community.  Holy Trinity, Ilkeston - partnered with Long Eaton - is an outward-looking community.  And they're looking for a priest who, under Bishop Roger's leadership, longs to do those things central to priestly ministry - to deepen the Christian discipleship and worship of others.  If you are looking for a House for Duty - you probably won't want to look any further.
